About Me

My photo
Scotland
I'm a simple Scottish girl with an unusual name and a strange obsession for nail polish! My aim is to capture what the eye sees, with a camera! Too much nail polish and never enough time. I have also started wildlife photography, which I enjoy very much. Welcome to my little world :-)

Color Club Yum Gum

Scented nail polish and a pretty colour, what more could a girl ask for??
It's from the Wicked Sweet collection. It's barbie/bubble gum pink and funnily enough, smells of bubble gum.
Indoors with flash (slightly bright)
Looks more of a baby pink here though.
And without flash (true representation of colour).

It's such a lovely and bright colour.

It was easy to use and hold. The brush was good too. I could smell it while I was painting my nails! All the above are 2 coats as 1 coat was very streaky. BUT be careful when applying the second coat as it can get streaky also, so make sure there is plenty on the brush. The scent is pleasant and not synthetic. Certainly does smell like bubble gum. It dried quickly and gave a good finish, but not too shiny. The scent lasted for 4 days and even with a glittery top coat, I could still smell the yummy bubble gum.

8 out of 10 as this is a pretty amazing polish. Can be purchased from Sally Salon Services for £7.99 (that's where I got it from) and eBay.

OPI Paris Couture For Sure (Holographic Top Coat)

I'm in heaven! This is one of my recent purchases from eBay for around £14. It's a holographic top coat and amazing!

Holographic tastic! Yet another one that's hard to capture :-p
Indoors with flash.

Some of the pictures are okay, you can see the effect (to an extent). How lovely and fabby does it look? TOTALLY. I'm in love.

It's an OPI, so very easy to use, apply and brilliant brush. I used one coat on the above nails from an Economy Nails post (Powdery Mauve). It gave a really good finish and was smooth. It dried quickly, which is good. And it's AWESOME. Obviously with this sort of polish, you need light :-)

Not many get 10 out of 10, but this one does. It's worth every penny and will make your nails look even more awesome than they already are ;-) Easy enough to pick up on eBay.

Nubar Prisms Jewel

Yet another one from the Prisms collection! So glad I bought these! This time we have a sparkly brown. Good golly gosh, did I just say brown?????? And me who isn't a fan of browns! :-s

So how cool does it look in that bottle and on those nails???

All indoors with flash.

Sparkly or what? Hehe and brown too! So this was a good quality polish, Nubars are. All above are 2 coats. It was easy to apply, easy to use and such a good brush to use. The lid is sooooooo easy to hold too. Good formula and dried quickly. It went on the nail nicely and gave a good finish but because of the flecks of glitter is was rough, most glitters are like that anyway.

I guess it goes without saying, but you need good light to get the full effect of this one. It looks fantastic in sunlight! I was quite surprised that I liked this one being brown and all, but I did. Maybe there is hope for browns in my world after all??? 7 out of 10 for this one. So good. eBay people, that's where it's easy to pick up.

OPI Electric Eel

I had been after this one for ages! It was on eBay a few weeks ago and I managed to pick it up for just over £5! How chuffed was I ;-) OVER THE MOON! It's iridescent and bloomin' well hard to capture to a mere novice like myself. So hopefully from the following, you can make out the colours.

It's got mixes of lime green, pink and gold in it! How versatile.
The following are indoors with flash.

And without flash.

Now indoors in the sunlight.

(If you zoom, you can just about make out the pink at the end of the nail!)

Sorry there are so many images, but I did find this one hard to capture!

It was easy to apply and easy to use. Dried very quickly, which was good because I had to apply 3 coats! Can you believe that, 3!!! It is quite a subtle polish but does look good with 3 coats. Gave a good finish and lasted well.

I really do like the iridescent polishes and this one isn't a let down. It's quite hard to come by, tends to be on eBay every-so-often for a pretty penny but after wearing it for a few days, I'd have to say it's worth every penny. I highly recommend it. 9 out of 10 for sure :-)

Nubar Prisms Absolute

I could not find the Nubar Prisms set for a good price anywhere in the UK, so I ended up ordering them on eBay from America for a fairly reasonable price. All in all came to about £42 for the 8. They arrived a few days ago (I know, I know I should have taken pictures!). Like a kid a Christmas, I opened the package and to my amazement I was more impressed than I though I'd be! I had some trouble on picking one to wear first, so with the help of Mr Posh Polishes, we both decided on Absolute. It's a blue holographic polish.
All are indoors with flash.

I must admit, it's quite hard to capture the holographic aspect of this polish! Or is that my poor camera skills? All above are 2 coats. This one had quite a subtle holographic effect to it and I'm wondering if it would have looked better with 3 coats. I'll know next time! I really liked the colour, a baby blue sparkly holographic polish.

It was easy to apply and the lid was very easy to hold. The Nubar's certainly have a good brush too and I personally think they are better than OPI! It had a good formula, went on smoothly and gave a good finish. It was also very shiny, which I think you can make out from the pictures. And it dried quickly.

8 out of 10. Good polish from a good company. Worth the money for sure. Can't wait to try the others :-)

Chanel 511 Pearl Drop

Was excited about getting this one and wearing it!
This one looks like a pearly white colour.

All are indoors with flash.

And without flash.
I was quite disappointed with the colour of this. It looked like a lemony pale yellow. I had expected more a of pearly white! All above are 2 coats. It was easy to apply and the Chanel lid is easy to hold. The formula is good and went on nicely for the 1st coat but when I was applying the 2nd coat patches appeared on the 1st coat, unless I had plenty on the brush. So be careful with that. It did dry quickly.

As far as a polish goes, it's good - but the colour!!! Oh well. 7 out of 10. Next time I try it, maybe do 3 coats and see how that works out.  £17.50 from Debenhams.

China Glaze Fairy Dust

When I was in Sally's this caught my eye! Sparkles!!!

I put it on top of Queen of West Web-erly from the previous post. All indoors with flash.

(Soz about the middle finger - sore). Nice and glittery and holographic - yummy.

All pictures are of 1 coat and 1 gave a good finish. It was very easy to apply and the bottle's lid is easy to hold and paint the nail with. It dried quickly and was smooth too. Good finish and it lasted well. AND it was really easy to come off compared to other glitters - you know who you are :-p.

8 out of 10. It's wonderful, if you like glitters then this is a must have.

Purchased from Sally Salon Services for about £6.50. Also available on eBay.

OPI Queen Of West Web-erly

Another eBay purchase, just over £5. Really like the look of this one.
This one is purple for sure! But in certain lights looked browny and I'm not a fan of brown.

All indoors with flash.

This next ones is good as is shows the speckles of glitter on zoom.

Like all OPI's - easy to apply, good formula and the lid is very easy to use. It went on the nail nicely, dried quickly and lasted well. Would look good on toes too. All above are 2 coats.

A sure fire 7 out of 10.
