About Me

My photo
Scotland
I'm a simple Scottish girl with an unusual name and a strange obsession for nail polish! My aim is to capture what the eye sees, with a camera! Too much nail polish and never enough time. I have also started wildlife photography, which I enjoy very much. Welcome to my little world :-)

Day 24 - Ciate Celestial

So we have come to the end of another Ciate Advent Calendar. All in all I've been slightly disappointed with the amount of doublers. Let's hope next year's is a winner! Being a total sucker, I'll probably buy it again *roll eyes*

So here is day 24......

Then over...

Avon Warm Black, Rimmel Dancin' Queen, Revlon Plum Attraction and Barry M Emerald Green.

This is easy to use, easy to apply and fairly quick drying (2-3 minutes a coat). It's a gorgeous holo glitter polish with a subtle shimmer. I tried it solo first and you can see my yellow stained nails, so I then tried it over various colours. I really like it over the black and purple. I was really impressed with this polish and I think it really is a winner to end on - it made me smile so much. Lasted really well.

Day 23 - Ciate Sherbet Fizz

This is easy to use, easy to apply and okay drying (about 4 minutes a coat). It's a pretty red colour with a very subtle shimmer that's quite hard to see and capture! This lasted quite well, noticed some tip wear.

This is easy to use, easy to apply and okay drying (4-5 minutes a coat). It's a nice gold foil-like polish that is really shiny! It looks quite festive I think! Lasted really well.

Day 21 - Ciate Fair Isle Style

Nail transfers - I mean seriously :-| Oh well just better get on with it...... I put these on top of Avon Gold Mystery.

These are easy to use and easy to apply. Cut up the pattern you want and stick it onto a dry nail. The patterns are quite nice, but I hadn't realised these were transparent or I would have used a darker colour! I would advise a top coat with this as they didn't last too long - me being a constant picker wouldn't have helped duration either! Nice enough but slightly let down! No polish!

Day 20 - Ciate Frozen Daydream

I put this on top of W7 Pink. I think it works well with the pink base! Although I was begninning to think - another glitter!!!!!!! The last 3 photos were taken with the flash.

This is easy to use and easy to apply. Just sprinkle over a wet nail and tap off the excess. I usually have a little tub that I do it over and tap the excess into then - then I can pour the rest back into the bottlle! It's a nice holo blue glitter with lots of sparkles. I put a top coat over this, but didn't get photos as the top coat dulled it down and it didn't look good at all.

Easy to use = 8/10
Application = 8/10
Drying time = as long as the base
Lasted well = 8/10 with top coat
Coats = just sprinkle over

My Personal Rating = 6.5/10 - not so keen on this one!

Day 19 - Ciate Candy Cane

This is okay to use and okay to apply. The formula is really thick, but it is okay to handle. Drying time is really slow (about 8-10 minutes a coat!!!!!!). I could not believe the drying time and I refused to use a top coat as I wanted to show the polish as is! I think it's a really pretty glitter and it looks so much fun! I noticed slight tip wear, but it lasted well otherwise.

Day 18 - Ciate Tinsel Trail

I put this over Avon Warm Black.

This is okay to use and okay to apply. I sprinkled it over a wet nail and tapped the excess off. In retrospect, I could have applied it a little bit better than that. I just thought that would be easy and I had been applying the glitters like this! It is a nice mixture of sequins - blue and holographic. In the photos is looks too crowded and too many sequins on the nail. I put a top coat on and they did last well, but I didn't manage to photograph this - it looked okay.

Rating

Day 17 - Ciate Amazing Gracie

Oh no another doubler! Bloody Ciate again! Seriously I cannot believe how many doublers there have been!!!!!! Booooo. Here is the post for Amazing Gracie from last year, when I did a french style.

This is easy to use, easy to apply and okay drying (a thin coat 3 minutes and a thick coat 7 minutes). This is really sheer. I used a thin coat at first then two thick coats. It's a pretty and delicate colour. I only swatched this so don't know how long it lasted - but judging from last year's, it lasted well.

Easy to use = 8/10

Day 16 - Ciate Cupcake Queen

Another doubler! Bloody Ciate!!!!!! I had this one a few years ago, and I think the one a few years ago was better! Here's the link: 2012 Cupcake Queen. The blue shimmer is much more evident in the old one compared to this one!

This is easy to use, easy to apply and okay drying (3-4 minutes a coat). The blue shimmer is really subtle and not as obvious as the previous version I had! Boo. I do like the colour but I'm a bit disappointed that it's a doubler and not as good! Lasted well.

Day 15 - Ciate Slumber Party

I put this on top of Rimmel Venus. The last four photos are taken with the flash and the end photo has a top coat on it!

This is easy to use and easy to apply. All you need to do is sprinkle the glitter over a wet nail. I tend to use a top coat then quickly sprinkle the glitter over it, then tap the excess off. Make sure you've got a little tub underneath to catch the glitter and then you can put the leftovers back into the bottle! I put a top coat over this (last photo) - the holo glittery bits did still show. Lasted well.
